Sandworm Look Alikes

As you probably already know, I am a huge fan of the Beetlejuice cartoons, and I have a good taste for Wander Over Yonder.  In an earlier episode, The Hat,  Wander and his steed Sylvia are chased by a gigantic space worm.  But am I the only one who notices the similar designs between the these two monsters here?  Could Craig McCracken have stolen the colors from the sandworm from the Beetlejuice cartoons, or could it just be a reference to the 80's cartoon?  Or could it be just a big coincidence? Well anyway, it's still a good Disney XD show anyway.
